More Americans aware of their high blood pressure

AHA News Now

An estimated 16% of adults with high blood pressure in 2011-2014 did not know it, a 46% decline since 1999-2002, according to a report released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Uninsured adults, Asian and Hispanic adults, adults under age 40, and men were more likely to be unaware they had the condition than were other demographic groups. High blood pressure is a risk factor for heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and other conditions.
