Programs honored for innovation in palliative, end-of-life care

AHA News Now

Two programs that expand the reach of palliative and end-of-life care will receive 2017 Circle of Life Awards July 28 at the AHA Leadership Summit in San Diego. They are: Bluegrass Care Navigators in Lexington, KY; and Providence Health & Services’ TrinityCare Hospice & TrinityKids Care, Little Company of Mary Medical Center and Institute for Human Caring in Torrance, CA. In addition, three programs will receive citations of honor: LifeCourse-Allina Health, Minneapolis; Midland Care Connection, Topeka, KS; and University of Wisconsin Palliative Care, Madison, WI. “This year’s Circle of Life honorees have done incredible work incorporating palliative and end-of-life care into all aspects of care,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “Our members are showing that palliative care services go beyond the four walls of a hospital. They are provided in specialty clinics, outpatient centers and in a patient’s home – and increasingly as part of a coordinated continuum of service.” For more on the Circle of Life Award and 2017 honorees, see the AHA news release.
