Maine seeks approval for Medicaid work, cost-sharing requirements

AHA News Now

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services recently applied to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for a Section 1115 demonstration waiver to implement certain work and cost-sharing requirements for “able-bodied” adults in the state’s Medicaid program. Jeffrey Austin, vice president of government affairs and communications for the Maine Hospital Association, which testified on the original waiver proposal, said the final waiver request “did address some, but not nearly all, of the concerns Maine hospitals had about the waiver. Maine hospitals still remain convinced that this waiver will ultimately lead to more patients going without insurance.”
