The American Medical Association and AHA this week convened a joint conference in Washington, their first in nearly 40 years, to discuss new models of care. Separate panels focused on the financial, cultural and operational considerations of these new models, with a wide variety of organizations from across the country describing their specific models. “In the areas of quality, safety and appropriate use of resources, we are getting better at a faster rate than ever before -- and this takes partnership,” AHA President and CEO Rich Umbdenstock said in opening remarks. Proceedings from the joint conference will be published next year.
