The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued checklists and a list of resources to help health care providers and facilities prepare for patients potentially infected with Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. In June, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius issued an emergency determination of the potential for a public health emergency involving the coronavirus, which has infected 81 people in eight countries since April 2012, about half of whom have died.
