The leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee yesterday re-introduced AHA-supported legislation (H.R. 297) to reauthorize the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education program, which provides funding to help freestanding children's hospitals train pediatric residents. "The bill had overwhelming support in the last Congress, and we hope that this year the Senate will take it up and send it to the president," said Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA), who reintroduced the measure with Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ). The bill could be marked up as early as next week.
