Louisiana Hospital Association names new chief executive
Nov 22, 2013
The Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA) has named as its next president and CEO Paul Salles, who currently serves as LHA executive vice president. Salles also is president and CEO of the Metropolitan Hospital Council of New Orleans.
He has directed the development of health care policy and reimbursement initiatives on behalf of Louisiana hospitals for the past 10 years.
Salles will replace retiring LHA CEO John Matessino on Jan. 1. Salles’ “understanding of our membership and deep health policy background give him a strong foundation upon which to step into this leadership role,” said LHA Chairman Stephen Wright, president and CEO of Christus Health of Louisiana, in a press statement. Wright also thanked Matessino for his 33 years of service to the LHA and “the extraordinary leadership he has provided to our organization and to hospitals across the state.”
AHA President and CEO Rich Umbdenstock said the outgoing Matessino “has been a tremendous asset for Louisiana hospitals throughout his career, particularly during Hurricane Katrina. He showed outstanding leadership during the storm by facilitating communications and directing assistance to hospitals impacted by the storm.”
